10 YEARS OF YES:
A NIGHT OF STORY AND SONG
Anniversary gala celebrating Narrative 4’s 10 years of commitment to sharing stories and building empathy

ABOUT THE PROJECT
In order to celebrate their decade of dedication to storytelling and the arts, N4 was set on gathering their widespread community, both past and present, back to where it all began, New York City, for an evening of story and song. As their creative lead, I was given the opportunity to build the identity for this event and help set the tone for how N4 would enter into their next decade of work. N4’s brand throughout the years had been anything but consistent, providing both an opportunity and challenge when creating a campaign paying homage to its roots. The organization had recently decided to self-publish a book called “The Story of Yes,” and I realized this was the “aha!” moment we had been looking for. What connected the wide variety of directions N4’s work had gone? The willingness to say “yes” to new challenges. And so the theme “10 Years of Yes” was chosen. From there, a few important considerations were made. Purple, N4’s signature color, needed to be prominent, but I expanded the palette to be more vibrant and compliment its core color. Additionally, it was vital that I highlighted the diverse range of voices that contributed to N4’s global presence. So for every country we operated in, I translated the word “yes” into their respective languages. These building blocks contributed to a broader asset toolkit that was used to support everything from digital marketing to event signage and stage design. Though this event was only one evening, the campaign set the tone for the N4’s future. For full transparency, I originally completed this project in 2023. But in 2025 I went back to the drawing board and enhanced some visual elements. While the theme and building blocks remained the same, the visuals you see here showcase the 2025 update.

3. THE EVENT
1. MARKETING
The date was set, but how did we actually get people to show up? We focused our efforts across email, social media, and direct mail. We were lucky to have a large network of artists and practitioners that provided great audio segments that I turned into short, shareable videos.
Once again, we were inviting people from all over the globe, so it was important that they were represented in the materials we shared.

1. THE SPACE
We were very lucky to work with such great vendors and hosts. Throughout the project, we collaborated with Eventique, an event management team, and Symphony Space, the event space, on visualizing how the event would come to life. Included below are schematics with notes and mockups of my designs.
Of course due to budget, scheduling and numerous other factors, some ideas were left behind. Regardless, it was a great exercise in spatial planning and brainstorming.

3. THE EVENT
Was it a show? A gala? A space for reflection? I think it ended up being a bit of all three experiences. Despite conflicting ideas on what the event should be, the design served as a unifying element to the space, event, and mission.
